Foreclosure Action Followed by Raid in Buffalo Homes
Foreclosure action was followed by raid in two affluent homes in Buffalo region. The raids were carried out by the FBI on two houses worth multimillions. The owner is a young business tycoon from Cleveland who ran a financial firm. The federal agents dragged away computers, papers, cars, furniture and various belongings. The two houses had been foreclosed upon in June 2009.
Many agents crowed the two adjacent properties in Hamburg located near southern Buffalo last Wednesday 2nd July 2009. The search continued throughout the day according to Earl Gould, the spokesperson of FBI. The latter and the attorney’s office of USA remained tight lipped and did not make any comments about the reason behind the raid. Gould said, “It’s part of an ongoing investigation. Depending on everything they’ve collected, there might be charges brought or there may not be.” The search warrant had been sealed.
The two houses were bought in 2008 by Phantom Holdings One for $6.3 million. The latter is one in a string of companies dealing with investment owned by Michael Wilson who is only 22 years old. It is the highest price being paid ever for property in Erie County.
Wilson operates his business from Cleveland and Buffalo. He resides in one of the units while his mother lives in another. The houses stand on 126 acres encircled by gardens, ponds and verdant green.
Wilson’s legal representative Robert Boreanaz said that he was unaware of any wrong to have been done by his client. He described the latter has a brilliant financial investor who had been at it since his late teens. Wilson is unmarried and never attended college. Boreanaz added that his brilliancy had caught the attention of many in known circles.
It seems obvious that the government is trying to look for flaws in Wilson’s financial dealings. Boreanaz opined, “I think it’s a case of some powerful, disgruntled investors that would like to see Wilson taken down. In some instances, they were not able to participate in Michael’s success. We certainly intend to rigorously challenge any of the property that’s taken from his home and business.”
Boreanaz thinks that his luxurious surroundings have drawn attention. In this region the people are not used to seeing somebody who is only 22, amass such power and money. He added, “But you go to New York, Florida, California, Las Vegas, and there are multiple people that age in that community.”
Boreanaz said that a small percentage of the work of his client dealt with extremely rich investors who were ready to take heavy risks for high returns.
