Annapolis Mayor to Sort out Financial Difficulties
October 6th, 2009
Zina C. Pierre is the Democrat mayor of Annapolis. She has been facing financial problems for sometime now. She has told local leaders that she will try to overcome the financial difficulties that include her foreclosed home, bounced cheques and tax liens. Pierre said that the meeting was more or less successful. Her party leaders stood by her, she claimed and the outcome was positive.
The spokesperson of Pierre, Wanda Stansbury said that she was not ready to divulge anything at the moment. Earlier Pierre had announced that she was dropping out of the race because her personal hardships had come to the forefront. Then the next day she said that she was part of the race.
Now questions are being raised about how long she had been staying in Annapolis. Law requires that a mayor should have been a resident for at least two years before she can contest an election. It may be noted that Pierre grew up in Annapolis. She also bought a home in Bowie four years ago. This is now under foreclosure. The present mayor is Ellen O. Moyer. She will not be able to contest for a second term. She said Pierre has tried to exude positive vibes at the meeting held between the local party members. She has promised to give a detailed account of the reason behind her financial problems. The mayor is, however, not very sure about Pierre’s viability. He is also worried about the effect Pierre may have on local races.
Moyer said that the members need some specific information which she is going to collect and explain. The mayor also observed that Pierre is a very straightforward lady. She is also very caring and that becomes obvious when a person talks to her. She is also very honest.
A spokesman for the Democratic Central Committee, Nick Berry, said that it would not be possible for him to comment till the news conference gets over. U.S. Representative Donna Edwards, who is Prince George’s County Democrat, said that she also attended the meeting. Edwards’ spokesperson said Pierre and Edwards have been friends for a long time. She was in Annapolis to attend another meeting and stopped to attend Pierre’s conference. The spokesperson Dan Weber said that the meet was not pre-planned at all. She had only stopped by to say hello. Financial difficulties have become common amongst Americans. Pierre is not the only public figure, perhaps.

You have this story ALL wrong. Pierre was the Democratic nominee but withdrew from the race. How could there be both her and the current mayor in office simultaneously–as your article reported? This piece is so wrong and so poorly written and discombobulated that it makes me wonder if your writer is even competent in English–much less in fact-checking.
